We can learn by watching or reading, but we learn much faster by doing.
If you reflect back on your life, did you learn new concepts or skills quicker by reading or actively participating? With this in mind, I’ve decided to launch this blog by putting concepts into action with two groups and two ‘missions’ or challenges.
What are the ‘missions’?
Mission A focuses on setting and achieving goals during 2025, while Mission B will focus on a 30 day digital detox from social media during the first quarter of 2025.
After creating and being a part of groups for fitness training, business goals, financial goals and even fasting sprints, I have experienced the power of group motivation. I hope you can also experience the benefits that comes from knowing others are supporting your goals.
Why should I sign up, what are the benefits?
By joining these free, private, mission groups you will experience:
- 👥 Feeling part of a team; encouragement, support and tips in the pursuit of your goals. Research abundantly shows support from others boosts motivation and discipline. In a group setting you can learn from other’s experiences and tips to help you progress.
- 📝 Targetted, researched and practical information. As part of the preperation for the challenges I will be providing information both on the psychological barriers and practical methods/tools I’ve benefitted from.
- 🎁 Prizes. There will be a reward for the most active participant in each challenge and an additional prize for blog support.
- 👌 Zero pressure, optional participation. We will be focusing on progress not ideal outcomes or perfect results. The groups will be free from pressure or hard targets (apart from any you set yourself). All participation is optional and no one will be pressured to share anything they feel is personal.
- 🤝 Embracing vunerability and potentially coming out your comfort zone. Sharing your personal goals requires a level of vunerability. Vunerability is a connecting force that brings people together and forms stronger bond. By opening up in these small private groups, you may feel more confident to open up in other future settings.
How do I join a mission?
You will soon receive an invitation via WhatsApp or text to join. The prerequisites for both missions are simply:
- 📝 Subscribe to this blog (for the targetted help newsletters)
- 📱 Join and participate (as much as you want to) in a private WhatsApp group when invited.
You can choose to join one or both missions.
When does each mission start and finish?
Below are the current times for the start and finish of each mission. The digital detox challenge month will be decided by a group vote.
⛳ Mission A - 2025 goals
• 🗓️ Start: 16/12/24
• 🏁 Finish: 31/12/24
🍀 Mission B - Digital social media detox
• 🗓️ Start: 06/01/25
• 🏁 Finish: End of the chosen month within the first quarter of 2025.
What is involved?
A summary of each mission and the 3 main steps involved:
⛳ Mission A: 2025 Goal setting/achieving
Focused on themes: 💡 Mindset. ⚡ Productivity
Goals can be within any category, i.e Spiritual, Fitness, Business, Hobbies, Mental Health etc.
We will be focusing on a maximum of 10 goals, how many you share in the group is up to you.
Information will be provided on how to structure your goal setting and monitoring.
- 1️⃣ Prep (16/12/24 - 22/12/24): After subscribing, read the preperation blog emails.
- 2️⃣ Create (23/12/24 - 29/12/24): Create your goals using the email method, or your own.
- 3️⃣ Share (06/01/25): Join the WhatsApp group and share at least 1 goal
- ➕ Optional upgrade #1: (13/01/25): Request an ‘accountability friend’ for your goal/s
- ➕ Optional upgrade #2: (03/02/25): MM (Monday Motivation). Post in the WhatsApp group on the first Monday of each month about your progress and ask your accountability friend for an update.
🕊️ Mission B: 30 day social media digital detox
Focused on themes: 💡 Mindset 🍀 Mental Health
We will specifically focusing on going 30 days without at least 1 social media channel. Ideally the most benefits will come from eliminating as many social media channels (including YouTube) as possible. I understand for those with their own business they will not be able to shut down all social media channels. There are definite mental health benefits from reducing social media exposure.
- 1️⃣ Prep (06/02/25 onwards): After subscribing, read the preperation blog emails which will include psychological tips and practical tools to tackle temptation. Think about how many channels you could deactivate for a month without business impact.
- 2️⃣ Vote (10/02/25 - 16/02/25): Join the WhatsApp group and vote for the month you would like to complete the mission.
- 3️⃣ Switch off: On the chosen month eliminate least one social media channel or YouTube.
- ➕ Optional upgrade #1: MM (Monday Motivation). Post in the WhatsApp group each Monday (or any day you prefer) about your progress and anything you’ve found helpful.
All participation in the WhatsApp groups is optional, but the more you contribute, the more benefit you will feel.
How will the prize winners be decided?
Winners won’t be decided on subjective ‘success’ but rather participation and giving.
🎁 The main winner will be decided on quality participation. Group members will be invited to vote on which member has flexed these 2 factors:
- 1️⃣ Participation: Level of initated participation in the WhatsApp group from the beggining to the conclusion of the challenge.
- 2️⃣ Vunerability/Sharing tips: The level of honesty and vunerabilty shownn with personal progress and the quality of tips given.
🎁 There will be an additional winner in each group for post challenge blog support.
This will be determined by the amount of clicks from a members share link and how many blog social media channels they followed (after the digital detox obviously).
Time to step up and transform
Rather than simply drift into the new year, why not take on a challenge to kick start 2025 in the right direction.
There can be lingering doubts about whether we want to commit to anything, be vunerable and step outside our comfort zones.
